A Ceramics Study Group

The China Students' Club is the oldest organization in the United States formed specifically for the study and appreciation of ceramics. The founding meeting took place on April 17, 1934, at the Twentieth Century Club in Boston. More than seventy years later, the original stated purpose of the Club has not changed, that the members be encouraged to become "students" of ceramics.

Ceramics from around the world are of interest for study, from the wares of Pre-Dynastic Egypt to those of contemporary studio potters. The Club is fortunate to include among its members museum curators, authors in the field of ceramics, and marketplace professionals, as well as students and collectors of ceramics at all levels of interest and proficiency.

The Club's annual program often includes an excursion to an interesting exhibition or collection of ceramics, six to seven lecture meetings, and a "Bits and Pieces" meeting to which members bring objects from their own ceramics collections for sharing, identification, and discussion. Guests are welcome at all meetings.

Information about becoming a member and a membership application are available here.
